When decision makers sit down with physicians from their home districts, they listen. Join your colleagues in Washington for the Society's next Legislative Fly-In.

Schedule of Events
On Wednesday evening, November 1, participants will meet for dinner and a discussion of legislative issues. On the morning of November 2, Fly-In attendees will convene for breakfast prior to departing for Capitol Hill. While on Capitol Hill, participants will meet with representatives from their home districts to discuss several topics important to cardiothoracic surgeons and their patients.

How You Can Participate
If you would like to attend the Fly-In, RSVP to Madeleine Stirling at mstirling [at] sts [dot] org. Plan to stay on Capitol Hill until 5:00 p.m. on November 2 to allow ample time for meetings.

June 2017 STS Legislative Fly-In

Eleven STS members joined the Society’s new Public Director Chris Draft in meetings with lawmakers and legislative aides on Capitol Hill. They discussed a number of issues important to cardiothoracic surgeons, including physician reimbursement, ways to reduce the resident physician shortage, passage of legislation providing medical liability reform, funding for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and lowering lung cancer rates.View photos from the Fly-In below.

October 2016 STS Legislative Fly-In

20 STS members attended the October 2016 Legislative Fly-In in Washington, DC. They met with staff
from 35 Congressional offices and highlighted issues of importance to the specialty, including MACRA implementation and lung cancer screening reimbursement. View photos from the Fly-In below.

In addition, STS held a congressional briefing on the STS National Database & Alternative Payment Models, featuring Drs. Keith S. Naunheim, David M. Shahian, Jeffrey B. Rich, and STS Director of Government Relations, Courtney Yohe. Watch a video of the briefing below.
