Welcome to the information page for the General Thoracic Surgery Database.
We want to provide a location for information on the status of the database project and eventually, the database itself. At present, we are hoping to go live with the database shortly after the annual STS meeting. Beta testing is planned for late November and December. Presently, we are preparing the database server to have an adequate level of security and pilot the flow of data entry screens. Our goal is to have a very functional site by the Chicago American College of Surgeon's meeting in October. The initial database functionality will allow users to add patients, record admissions/visits, and provide details of operative procedures. As we ready them, other parts for risk factors, long-term outcomes, and treatment details will be brought online.
In order to foster discussion and feedback, we invite you to participate in our discussion forum. We are very interested in hearing your ideas, concerns, and opinions on the topic of the database.

The primary design of the database is being done by Stan Dziuban, Dave Harpole and Dave Wormuth. Mary Eiken, Fred Grover and Peter Pairolero are providing oversight, and Peter Greene and Rob Obertueffer from CTSNet are providing technical guidance. Together, we are working very hard to bring you a secure and effective database.
