Multidisciplinary Thoracic Cancers Symposium

STS Members:

We are pleased to invite you to attend the 2017  Multidisciplinary Thoracic Cancers Symposium, taking place March 16-18, at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. The symposium will bring together radiation and medical oncologists, thoracic surgeons and all members of the treatment team in a comprehensive and practical meeting for the entire thoracic cancer  community.

Here are a few of the program highlights related to general thoracic surgery:

  • A General Session on Screening, Diagnosis and Staging that includes presentations on “Lung Cancer Screening” from Douglas E. Wood, MD and “Mediastinal Staging Approaches: Minimally Invasive to Invasive” from Ara A. Vaporciyan, MD.
  • A Keynote on “Personalized Surgical Approaches  to Therapy” with Valerie W. Rusch, MD.
  • Oral abstracts presenting the latest scientific  breakthroughs in thoracic cancer treatment.
  • A Plenary Session on Early Stage Thoracic Cancers, with radiation, medical and surgical  presentations, including “Surgical Outcomes for Stage 1 Lung Cancer” from Dr.  Whyte and an Early Stage Tumor Board.
  • A General Session on Locally Advanced Stage III Cancer, with a session by Linda W.  Martin, MD, MPH, on “Role of Surgery in Stage III (N2) Disease” and a Locally  Advanced Tumor Board.
  • A General Session on Practical Guidance in Precision Medicine--Bridging the Gap Between  Research and the Clinic.
  • Two General Sessions on Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer, with a focus on “Targeted  Therapy and Immunotherapy” and presentations on Palliative Care, Quality of  Life and Oligometastatic Disease, followed by an Advanced Non-small Cell Lung  Cancer Tumor Board.
  • A General Session examining other types of  thoracic tumors, including Small Cell  Lung Cancer, Mesothelioma and Thymic  Tumors.
  • A final General Session on Immunotherapy in Lung Cancer.
