Michael J. Mack, MD Awarded ACC Presidential Citation
STS News, Spring 2012 -- The ACC Presidential Citation has been awarded to STS Immediate Past President Michael J. Mack, MD. Dr. Mack was presented with this prestigious honor on March 26, during the ACC’s 61st Annual Scientific Session in Chicago.
In his announcement of this year’s award, ACC President David R. Holmes, Jr., MD said that he chose Dr. Mack to receive this designation because he has “served as a superb advocate for cardiovascular care of patients with a wide variety of diseases,” and explained that he “helped facilitate close collaborations between ACC and STS, as well as the Food and Drug Administration and CMS, which have engendered multiple novel approaches to medicine.”
Previous recipients who have been honored with the Presidential Citation include Mark McClellan, MD, PhD, Larry King, Eugene Braunwald, MD, and Michael E. DeBakey, MD.
