STS University 2013: Preview

STS News, Fall 2012 -- At the upcoming STS University, you’ll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in techniques that you can immediately use in your practice. “We’ve added new courses this year, including one on ECMO,” said Vinod H. Thourani, MD, Chair of the STS University Task Force. “We’re also concentrating more on techniques and ‘how to do it’ and less on data slides, along with more faculty at each table for instruction.”

Here’s a glimpse at the available courses:

Course 1: Mitral Valve Repair
Course 2: Valve-Sparing Root Replacement and Aortic Arch Repair
Course 3: Hybrid Revascularization
Course 4: TAVR/TEVAR
Course 5: Short- and Long-Term Mechanical Support
Course 6: VATS and Robotic Lobectomy
Course 7: Ultrasound- and Navigation-Guided Bronchoscopy
Course 8: Novel Techniques in Esophageal and Tracheal Surgery
Course 9: Chest Wall Resection and Reconstruction
Course 10: ECMO
Course 11: ICU/Echo
Course 12: Traditional and Modified Konno Procedures

STS University will take place on Wednesday morning, January 30, in Los Angeles. To register for these courses, you must first register for the STS 49th Annual Meeting. Registration information is available at www.sts.org/annualmeeting.
