Anderson Selected as Chair
Mark B. Anderson, MD, FACS has been appointed Chair of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Einstein Healthcare Network’s Regional Cardiothoracic Surgery Program. His responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of the program at both Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia and the recently opened Einstein Medical Center Montgomery.
A member of STS since 1998, Dr. Anderson has a special interest in minimally invasive heart surgery and robotic heart surgery, including valve replacement, repair, and coronary bypass. He also has expertise in heart failure surgery, including heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices.
Rosengart to Lead BCM Surgery
Todd K. Rosengart, MD has been appointed Chair of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, effective November 1.
A member of STS since 1995, Dr. Rosengart serves on the STS Workforce on Evidence Based Surgery and the STS Workforce on Media Relations and Communications.
He’s conducted significant research in the field of gene therapy and holds several patents, including one for a method of inducing angiogenesis.
Song Named Chief
In July, Howard K. Song, MD, PhD became Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University, where he also serves as the Surgery Director of both the Heart Failure and Transplant Program and the Thoracic Aorta Program. He has been with OHSU since 2004 and a member of STS since 2006.
Dr. Song’s clinical interests lie in the areas of aortic and mitral valve repair, transplantation, ventricular assist devices, and aortic aneurysms. He’s also actively involved in both clinical and basic science research on topics such as genetically triggered thoracic aortic aneurysms, biomedical and tissue engineering, and patient outcomes after cardiovascular surgery.
