Three major STS awards are typically presented each year during the Society's Annual Meeting:
W. Gerald Austen Young Investigator Award
Launched in 2007 with financial support from Abiomed, Inc., this award is designed to encourage individuals to embark on a career in cardiothoracic research and education, with a focus on investigating recovery after acute cardiogenic shock. Click here for more information.
Earl Bakken Scientific Achievement Award
This award was initiated in 1999 with funding from Medtronic, Inc. to recognize outstanding scientific contributions that have enhanced the practice of cardiothoracic surgery and patients' quality of life. Click here for more information.
