Clinical Trials

Researchers rely on clinical trials to test the efficacy of emerging medical treatments.  The following links further define the different types and phases of clinical trials and describe ongoing opportunities for clinical trial volunteers.

ClinicalTrials.gov
http://www.clinicaltrials.gov
Developed by the U.S. National Institutes of Health through the National Library of Medicine and in collaboration with the Food and Drug Administration, this site provides regularly updated information about federally and privately supported clinical research opportunities.  Participants in clinical trials are volunteers who can gain access to new research treatments before they are widely available and help others by contributing to medical research.

National Cancer Institute Clinical Trials
http://www.nci.nih.gov/clinicaltrials
Developed by the NCI of the National Institutes of Health and Department of Health and Human Services, this site links volunteers with studies designed to determine whether promising approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment are safe and effective.
