Looking to the Future Scholarship

2011 Scholarship for Aspiring Cardiothoracic Surgeons

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons and its Workforce on Graduate Medical Education and Thoracic Surgery Resident Issues are pleased to announce the 2011 Looking to the Future Scholarship Program, designed for general surgery residents and medical students. The scholarship seeks to identify and encourage those who are considering but are not yet committed to a career in cardiothoracic surgery. (Please note: Previous Looking to the Future Scholarship recipients are ineligible, though previous applicants are encouraged to apply.) The scholarship supports attendance at the STS 47th Annual Meeting in San Diego. (Medical students will attend the meeting from Jan. 29-Feb. 1; general surgery residents will attend from Jan. 30-Feb 2.)

To apply, scholarship applicants must submit the following:

• This application form;
• A resume or CV (e-mail to residents@sts.org);
• A letter of recommendation from his or her Program Director or CT surgery mentor (e-mail to residents@sts.org).

All materials (application form, resume/CV, letter of recommendation) must be received no later than 11:59 p.m., CDT, Friday, Oct. 1, 2010. Scholarship recipients will be announced in mid-November. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
