The STS Learning Center provides a central location for users to easily view webinars, complete e-learning modules, review relevant educational content, and satisfy select components of Maintenance of Certification.
STS Clinical Care E-Learning Modules
The Society has launched a new series of clinical care e-learning modules as part of its ongoing efforts to create relevant online continuing education materials for cardiothoracic surgeons and their teams, as well as to help them meet state licensure requirements.
Featuring audio, text, and images, each module takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, includes pre- and post-tests, and offers CME credit or a certificate of participation.
Patient Safety E-Learning Program Available for Purchase
STS is offering an e-learning program on the science and practice of patient safety. “Fundamentals of Patient Safety for the Cardiothoracic Surgery Team” is a series of online modules covering topics such as the epidemiology of error, systems thinking, human factors, the culture of safety, fundamentals of quality improvement, communication, and methods and tools for evaluating safety events. How to Access
The STS Learning Management System
The STS Learning Management System (LMS) houses a wealth of educational materials, including the entire Thoracic Surgical Curriculum and a variety of textbooks, videos, and case presentations. Program directors and coordinators easily can set up a 1-, 2-, or 3-year curriculum, as well as create customized assignments and offer National Benchmarked Quizzes for resident comparison across programs.
The Curriculum currently is accessible only by cardiothoracic surgery residency program directors, coordinators, faculty, and residents, but access will be expanded to all STS members in the future.
In the future, all of the Society’s online educational programs, including the STS Annual Meeting Online and webinars, will be housed in the LMS.
