This course is targeted toward surgeons, intensive care specialists, perfusionists, nurses, respiratory therapists, advanced practice providers, and other health care team members who are involved in the care for patients who require ECMO. The course is appropriate for both experienced and novice ECMO providers.
After participating in this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify appropriate candidates for ECMO
- Discuss indications for venoarterial and venovenous ECMO
- Describe ECMO cannulation techniques and discuss equipment options
- Detail and manage ECMO emergencies
