This program will focus on the Intermacs Database and its Pedimacs component, reflecting changes in the scope of mechanical circulatory support device implants and patient management. Sessions are designed to help participants improve data collection and advance their registry coding skills, using a case-based learning format. 

Objectives
Upon completion of the Intermacs/Pedimacs program, participants will be able to: 

  • Explain how to read and interpret quarterly reports
  • Describe how to utilize the new dashboard for benchmarking 
  • Identify how missingness in the Intermacs Database can influence findings
  • Summarize the variability of short-term and long-term outcomes and discuss the complexity of comparing centers
  • Discuss updated Intermacs adverse events
