Get a Preview of the CHSD Spec Upgrade at AQO – Register Today
Registration and housing are now open for the 2018 Advances in Quality & Outcomes: A Data Managers Meeting, September 26-28 in Los Angeles. In addition to sessions highlighting various aspects of data collection and entry for congenital heart diseases such as heterotaxy syndrome and transposition of the great arteries, an important focus of this year’s meeting will be preparing you for the upcoming CHSD specification upgrade, which goes into effect on January 1, 2019. The schedule also has been modified so that the CHSD and General Thoracic Surgery Database tracks will be held on different days—giving you an opportunity to attend both. Register today and reserve your housing at the Loews Hollywood Hotel. Prices increase $100 after August 29. If you need a personalized justification letter to attend the meeting, fill out this form.

Submit Questions and Case Scenarios
The Society is collecting questions and case scenarios for a panel of experts to discuss during the AQO Meeting. Submit a question or case scenario by Monday, August 13.

Important Data Manager Survey
STS is seeking data manager input on how often data are submitted, timing of data abstraction, how analysis reports are used, and more details on your organization’s participation in the STS National Database. The results of this annual survey will assist the Society in developing resources for data managers, as well as understanding how STS National Database data are being used to improve quality of care. If you are a data manager, please take 10 minutes to complete this important survey. Note: If you also abstract for another Database component, you can complete the survey based on the component that is most time consuming or each Database component for which you abstract. Survey results will be presented during the AQO Meeting.

Purchase Access to AQO Online 2017
If you missed last year’s AQO conference, you can still experience the exceptional meeting content through AQO Online. Learn about the anesthesia section of the CHSD, coding for double outlet right ventricle procedures and combined aortic arch anomalies, and more. Purchase access to just the CHSD sessions or a complete set, which includes all Database components. Those who attended AQO 2017 receive free access to the online product(s) that correspond to the session(s) for which they were registered; log in with the credentials that were used to register for the meeting. No continuing education credit will be given for viewing AQO Online.

Spring Data Analysis Report Moved to Late June
The Data Analysis Report (DAR) for the spring 2018 harvest is expected to be released by the end of this month. Please note that the DAR release date for the fall 2018 harvest also may be delayed slightly. The Society will keep you informed as best as possible, but for the most up-to-date information, check the harvest schedule.
