Launch of Webinar Series for New Data Managers
STS is launching a webinar series for new data managers abstracting for the General Thoracic Surgery Database (GTSD). Various topics will be covered during the quarterly webinars, including software and data specifications, understanding data abstraction requirements and harvest schedules, and a host of relevant web resources. The first session, to be held on Thursday, July 30 at 1:00 p.m. CT, will be a “Back to Basics” webinar. While the intended audience is new data managers, these webinars could serve as helpful refreshers for seasoned users as well. View the STS National Database Webinars page for the complete webinar schedule.
Direct Data Entry Now Available
A direct data entry (DDE) option launched on July 1 for the GTSD and Adult Cardiac Surgery Database, which means you no longer need to use third-party vendor software to submit data unless you want to do so. DDE is offered at no additional cost, and participants should enter data directly into the IQVIA platform. For more information, contact the STS National Database team at STSDB@sts.org.
Data Harvest Update
Data submission for the Fall 2020 Harvest closes on Friday, September 18. Please ensure that all data with procedure dates through the June 30, 2020 reporting period are entered by this date. Check the 2020 Harvest Schedule for additional details. Spring 2020 Harvest results are coming soon and will include procedure dates through December 31, 2019. GTSD participants will be informed as soon as there is an official date regarding the release of the results.
