Enter Site Data by March 31
The deadline to submit 2019 Q1 data is quickly approaching. In order to be included in the Q1 Quality Assurance and Data Quality Reports, all data must be entered by Sunday, March 31. 2018 Q4 reports also will be distributed by this date.
If you have any questions, review these FAQs. If you have potential inconsistencies listed in your Q4 report, contact Maceo Cleggett, Clinical Data Analyst from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Data Warehouse, to confirm whether the data are accurate.
Clinical Research Proposal Submissions Due May 1
STS funding is available for a number of novel, well-conceived, and hypothesis-driven proposals based on data in the Intermacs Database through the STS Access & Publications program. Submissions with detailed analysis plans, shell tables, and figures are strongly encouraged; collaborative projects involving multiple institutions that can be completed within 9-12 months will receive extra consideration. The submission deadline is Wednesday, May 1. Submit inquiries and proposals to Kristin Mathis. If you cannot meet the May 1 deadline, the next round of proposals will be due November 1.
Site Audits Planned for 2019
Twenty Intermacs/Pedimacs sites will be audited remotely this year by a third-party firm, Cardiac Registry Support. If your site is chosen, the firm will send you detailed instructions and give you approximately 4-6 weeks to prepare. Contact Kathryn Hollifield if you have any questions.
Check Out Heart Failure Page on STS Patient Website
The Society’s patient website, ctsurgerypatients.org, provides easily understandable information, videos, and graphics on cardiothoracic diseases. A page on Heart Failure explains the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options for this condition, which may require mechanical circulatory support. If you interact with patients at your institution, make sure to share this important resource—handouts are available for download in both English and Spanish. If you have feedback or questions about the patient website, contact Jennifer Bagley.
Access 2018 AQO Online
Experience the exceptional content that was delivered during the 2018 Advances in Quality & Outcomes: A Data Managers Meeting from the convenience of your home or office. AQO Online, available as a full compilation or by STS National Database component, includes unlimited, on-demand viewing and—new this year—the ability to earn CE or CEU credit. It also includes the option to download slides from the meeting. Purchase the complete set or just the ACSD sessions (which include a session on Intermacs). AQO attendees have free access to the sessions for which they were registered.
Save the date: The 2019 AQO Meeting is scheduled for October 23-25 in New Orleans and will include sessions on the Intermacs Database. Abstracts will be accepted this spring. Data coordinators and STS National Database participants are encouraged to begin thinking about quality improvement projects that may be completed over the next few months and submitted as abstracts.
