Cardiothoracic Surgery in the COVID Crisis: STS/ACC TVT Registry: Rebooting Your Valve Program in a COVID-19 World

Many hospitals and clinics have deferred non-urgent cardiovascular procedures and tests in response to the COVID pandemic. As restrictions start to loosen preparing to reboot valve programs likely will impose unprecedented challenges. This webinar included STS/ACC TVT Registry leaders and other colleagues in the valve therapy space who discussed these challenges and considerations as programs begin to resume. Moderators John D. Carroll, MD, and Vinod H. Thourani, MD, were joined by physicians from across the US, along with representatives from a health system and industry. During the webinar they:

  • Discussed patient and provider safety, both in clinics and at the time of procedure
  • Addressed the use of personnel, time, and testing with limited resources
  • Addressed logistical considerations as valve programs begin to reopen
  • Shared experiences from valve programs that have started to reboot
  • Provided updates from CMS and industry on their responses
  • Answered questions and provide guidance for reopening valve therapy programs
