The Thoracic Surgery Foundation (TSF) was established in 1988 and is the charitable arm of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons; it is exempt from federal taxation under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).

TSF’s mission is “to foster the development of surgeon scientists in cardiothoracic surgery; increasing knowledge and innovation to benefit patient care.” The Foundation supports a wide variety of initiatives, including research grants and fellowships, traveling fellowships, NIH matching grants, projects that provide charity work in underserved regions/populations, and educational scholarships. Your dollars will make a difference for the specialty and its patients.

STS underwrites all of TSF’s management expenses so that every dollar donated to the Foundation goes directly to support the initiatives outlined above.

Contributions made to TSF qualify as charitable donations for federal income tax purposes, and are eligible for income tax deductions to the extent provided by law. Please consult with your tax adviser to determine the amount allowed. No goods or services will be provided in exchange for your generous financial donation.
