What are the dates and location of the meeting?

The 63rd STS Annual Meeting will take place in person at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. The official meeting dates are Thursday, Jan. 28 – Sunday, Jan. 31, 2027.
 

Where will the meeting take place?

All educational programming for the 63rd STS Annual Meeting will take place at:

Will there be a virtual registration option?

No. STS 2027 will take place in person only, though the meeting will be recorded and made available for purchase. 

Each paid registration includes a 45-day trial to STS OnDemand, the Society's convenient streaming platform. In addition to the 700+ hours of content already available, STS 2027 recorded content will be made available during the trial period. 

How much does registration cost?

Visit the STS 2027 Pricing page for details. Early bird registration rates are available until Nov. 2, 2026.
 

Do any programs or sessions require an additional fee?

All add-on programs and activities can be viewed on the event site. 

STS will offer nine hands-on courses in a range of topics in cardiothoracic surgery; these can be added for a fee during the registration process. Mock Oral Exams and Mock Interviews will be offered in The Hub and can also be added during registration.

One half-day symposium are included in overall meeting registration. Those who are interested in this event, but do not plan to attend the entire meeting, can register with a one-day fee. (If you choose the one-day option, you may not attend any other Annual Meeting sessions or events.)

Translating Evidence into Excellence for APPs in Cardiothoracic Surgery
Saturday, Jan. 31, 1 – 5 p.m.

Daily wellness activities will be available for a fee. They can be added at a cost of $10/activity, or all four for $25. 

How and where do I book a hotel stay?

Exclusive discounted rates are available when you reserve your hotel through the Society’s room block. Book early as certain hotels have limited availability. You must register for the Annual Meeting before reserving a room in the STS room block.

Which is the headquarters hotel?

The headquarters hotel for STS 2027 is the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. More information can be found on the Annual Meeting Registration & Hotel website.

Will transportation be provided from the official STS hotels to the convention center?

Shuttle service will not be provided, as all official STS hotels are within walking distance of the convention center. Shuttles will be provided to transport attendees of the President's Reception on Saturday evening. 

What is the dress code?

Attire is business professional. Wear comfortable shoes and bring layers, as the temperature in meeting rooms may be cold.

What if I need to cancel my registration?

All requests for cancelations must be made in writing and sent to STSsupport@cmrus.com by Jan. 12, 2027. Requests for refunds will not be honored if submitted after that date. Please note: A processing fee of $100 will be charged for all cancelations made before Jan. 12, 2027.

Do presenters have to register for the 2027 STS Annual Meeting?

All presenters must register for the 2027 STS Annual Meeting. STS does not waive meeting registration fees or reimburse travel and/or housing expenses for cardiothoracic surgeons attending or speaking at the Annual Meeting. Presenters who are STS Members receive the member discount at registration; early bird discounts are also available. 
 

Is there a virtual presentation option?

No. All presenters must present in person in San Diego at the 2027 STS Annual Meeting.

When will I be notified of a decision on my submission?

Submission decisions are expected to be sent by early October 2026.

How can I manage my faculty assignments?

If you are invited to present, you can update your speaker information, upload presentations, etc., through the STS Meetings Manager. Log in with your STS website credentials to proceed. 

I missed the submission deadline. Is there any possibility of submitting after the deadline has passed?

No. Submissions cannot be accepted after the Aug. 31, 2026, deadline.

How do I change the presenting author on my submission?

If you need to change the presenting author after the submission deadline, the new presenting author must already be listed as an author on the submission. Please contact STS Education for assistance.
