Resident Scholarships Available

A limited number of scholarships is available. The generous scholarships provided by The Thoracic Surgery Foundation—the charitable arm of STS—will cover all expenses related to attending the conference. Senior level or chief cardiothoracic surgery residents enrolled in an ACGME-approved program are invited to apply by April 1, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. CT


The 2023 STS Coronary Conference returns for a second year of innovative, international, and groundbreaking science taking place June 3-4, 2023, in Miami Beach, Florida. Conference attendees will learn how to take their coronary surgery programs to the next level from a basic to an advanced program. Experts from around the world will share the latest techniques and outcomes. 

The 2-day program will include interactive presentations, “How I Do It” video sessions on surgical techniques, practical tips and tricks, and case-based panel discussions.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 

  • Discuss the latest advances in coronary artery surgery
  • Join in discussions with the heart team about patient selection/approaches 
  • Summarize in depth the indications and comparative revascularization outcomes for CABG
  • Describe and demonstrate on-pump CABG/off-pump CABG methods, as well as minimally invasive CABG methods
  • Describe and demonstrate the various techniques in conduit harvesting
  • Describe and demonstrate the various master techniques in graft configuration

Hotel Arrangements
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. The special STS group rate is $329, plus state and local taxes, and is guaranteed through Thursday, May 11, or until the group block is sold out. Guest rooms reserved after the cutoff date or when the room block is sold out are subject to hotel availability.

Cancelations
The Society of Thoracic Surgeons will issue a refund, minus a $100 administrative fee, for all cancelations received in writing by May 19, 2023. No refunds will be issued after this date.
