Is the meeting in person or online?
Both! The STS 58th Annual Meeting will take place in person at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Florida. If you can't join us in Miami Beach, you can register for the virtual conference instead. Hands-On Courses, the President’s Reception, and the Exhibit Hall will be offered only at the in-person conference. Both versions will feature thought-provoking lectures, late-breaking research, and the outstanding didactic and interactive educational programs you’ve come to expect. In-person registration includes the virtual conference, and both in-person and virtual registration include subsequent access to the STS Annual Meeting Online product that will be available through the STS Learning Center for 1 year.

How and where do I book a hotel stay?
Exclusive discounted rates are available when you reserve your hotel through the Society’s room block. Book early at your choice of eight downtown Miami Beach hotels, as some venues have a limited number of rooms. You must register for the Annual Meeting before reserving a room in the STS room block.
Which is the headquarters hotel?
The headquarters hotel for STS 2022 is the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. More information can be found on the Annual Meeting Registration & Hotel website.
Will transportation be provided from the official STS hotels to the convention center?
Daily shuttle service will be offered between STS official hotels and the convention center. Details will be provided closer to the meeting dates.
What is included in the virtual meeting?
A virtual meeting is available for those who cannot travel to Miami Beach and attend in person. Select content from STS 2022 will be live-streamed on a virtual meeting platform, and on-demand sessions and e-posters will be available throughout. Registration for the virtual meeting also includes subsequent access to Annual Meeting Online, which will feature recordings for nearly all meeting sessions and content in the STS Learning Center for 1 year. Continuing medical education credit will be available for both the virtual meeting and Annual Meeting Online.

I registered to attend in person but would like to switch to virtual registration. How do I change my registration?
Send a message to the STS Registration and Hotel Support Center and a representative will assist you in transferring your registration to virtual only.
What type of continuing education credit is available?
The Society of Thoracic Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Physician Assistants (PAs) also may claim AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
STS is seeking approval to provide perfusion credits. The number of available credits and instructions for claiming credit will be shared closer to the event.
What is the dress code?
Dress is business casual. Check the current weather report for Miami Beach, Florida.
Can I register when I arrive?
Advance registration is strongly recommended, however onsite registration will be available everyday, Friday, January 28, through Monday, January 31.
What COVID precautions are you taking?
The Society of Thoracic Surgeons is closely following the latest COVID-19 developments and continuously updating its health and safety protocols related to in-person attendance at the STS 58th Annual Meeting in Miami Beach, Florida, January 29-31.

When is the Exhibit Hall open?
Exhibit hall hours are:
- Sunday, January 30, 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. ET
- Monday, January 31, 8:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. ET
The Exhibit Hall Reception and Poster Event will be held on Sunday, January 30, 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. ET.
Learning Labs hosted by industry also will take place during regular Exhibit Hall hours.
When is the Presidential Address?
Sean C. Grondin, MD, MPH, FRCSC, will deliver his presidential address on Sunday, January 30, at 11:00 a.m. ET (the plenary session will begin at 10:45 a.m. ET).
When is the President’s Reception?
The President’s Reception, held in honor of Sean Grondin, MD, MPH, FRCSC, will take place on Saturday, January 29, 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET, at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. Purchase a ticket when registering for the meeting; don’t delay, as space is limited.
Which events require an additional ticket?
Hands-On Courses and the President’s Reception, both taking place on Saturday, January 29, each require an additional ticket that can be purchased during Annual Meeting registration.

How do I connect to the virtual meeting?
All registrants will receive an email approximately 1 week before the Annual Meeting with instructions for accessing the virtual platform.
In what time zone is the meeting live-streamed?
The meeting schedule is displayed in Eastern Time; however, during the live event, the virtual platform will display all times in your local time zone.
When will on-demand content and e-posters be available for viewing?
On-demand sessions and e-posters will be available for viewing in the virtual platform approximately 1 week before the Annual Meeting begins.
What content is included with virtual registration?
Select content from the 58th Annual Meeting will be live-streamed on a virtual meeting platform, and on-demand sessions and e-posters will be available throughout. Recordings of all sessions will be available to all registrants for 1 month on the platform, and then for an additional year as part of complimentary access to the Annual Meeting Online product, accessible via the STS Learning Center. The digital product provides a subsequent opportunity to earn significantly more continuing medical education credit beyond what you can earn during the live event.
