The Society is accepting applications for a new Executive Director to succeed Robert A. Wynbrandt when he retires in March 2019. 

This position is a full-time STS staff position and is located in the Society’s Chicago headquarters office. The STS Executive Director works with the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, other volunteer leaders, and staff to advance and enhance the organization’s strategic vision and execute the programs and activities of the Society. In concert with the President and other elected leaders, s/he is responsible for the leadership, direction and overall management of the organization, and specifically oversees the acquisition and utilization of its resources, including the recruitment, retention, and motivation of a high-performing staff.

Working in collaboration with the elected officers of the Society, the Executive Director ensures that the organization maintains an engaged membership base through a clear and consistent value proposition, and s/he is responsible for sustaining the Society’s financial well-being. The Executive Director manages the organization’s budget and allocates resources to ensure the Society’s maximum impact on behalf of its membership.

An ideal candidate will have 10+ years of senior executive management experience, experience in a related medical non-profit/membership environment, and financial management experience. An advanced degree in business, law, medicine or another health-related discipline is preferred.
