Deep Dive Series: Critical Care

Post-Cardiotomy ECMO Support

Perioperative Care of the Aortic Surgical Patient
Part 1—Proximal Aorta & Dissection

In this two-part series highlighting the perioperative management of aortic surgery, fundamentals and pitfalls are identified.

In Part 1, the focus is on aortic dissection and proximal aortic and arch surgery with hemodynamic considerations and optimal neurologic outcomes.

In Part 2, the focus is on thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm surgery with an emphasis on managing its unique challenges and reducing the risk of spinal cord ischemia in the postoperative period.
